The scripture for today is Mark 6:30-34, NIV.
The apostles gathered around Jesus and reported to Him all they had done and taught. Then, because so many people were coming and going that did not even have a chance to eat, He said to them, "Come with me by yourselves to a quiet place and get some rest."
So, they went away by themselves in a boat to a solitary place. But many who saw them leaving recognized them and ran on foot from all the towns and got there before them. When Jesus landed and saw a large crowd, He had compassion on them, because they were like sheep without a shepherd. So, He began teaching them things.
Isn't that just like Jesus? I am sure that He is very tired from preaching and travelling. But He takes pity on them and has compassion for them and teaches them about His Father.
I feel that is what we as Christians should do. Have more compassion on other people. I got upset about something at work last eve. We have not completely opened up, so when we have a person close to death, we notify the very front desk, outside lobby, that their families are allowed to come in two at a time. Someone had blackened all of the "o's" on the paper. Now you may say what is the big deal. Well, everyone sees the note and especially the family. Common compassion and good sense would tell you that the family deserves better than that. We seem to have forgotten common sense and compassion in this generation.
We say we want to be more like Jesus, Well, if we really mean it then do it. Love and have compassion.
Lord, let us love others as you do, and have compassion for them.Amen
