Today’s Reading is Psalm 150:1-6
Praise the LORD! Praise God in His sanctuary; praise Him in His mighty heavens! Praise Him for His mighty deeds; praise Him according to His excellent greatness!
Praise Him with trumpet sound; praise Him with lute and harp! Praise Him with tambourine and dance; praise Him with strings and pipe! Praise Him with sounding cymbals; praise Him with loud clashing cymbals! Let everything that has breath praise the LORD! Praise the LORD!
It just happens that I enjoyed this Psalm this morning. I had no idea it was my next writing assignment.
In November, my small group discussed the practice of fasting. I obtained an excellent book from the library: Fasting: Spiritual Freedom Beyond Our Appetites by Lynne Baab. She spoke of how the Children of Israel had a culture of fasting and feasting. As I invest in learning more about spiritual practices, I decided to spend a month feasting on a Psalm each morning. As I neared the end of this Psalm, I recalled a Gospel song I know. I’ve attached a link to my favorite version of it on YouTube. Enjoy the feast!
Father God, our Dear Abba, Creator and Source of all Life – Jesus, our Messiah, Head of the Church – Holy Spirit of Life, our Sweet Comforter – we lift our hearts, voices and hands in praise to You. You are God and there is no other. Only You are deserving of our worship. Amen.
