The scripture for today is Psalm 118:1-2, 14-24.
“Give thanks to the Lord, for He is good: His love endures forever!”
At the time of my writing this, we are in the middle of the unknown. An unknown biological pandemic which has caused even more uncertainty about our future. So, it seems rather odd to be writing about how we ought to give thanks to the Lord!
How are we able to give thanks to the Lord in a situation that is as crummy as the one we are living through?
And I know that for many of us, we celebrated Easter in a particularly unusual way – by maintaining social distancing and being unable to be together. But much like Pastor Lanny has said, Christ has the final word. Christ has triumphed – Christ has risen!
Isn’t that something to give thanks for?
And we know that in the Easter promise, because Christ has risen, so will we! We are rising!
I know that it is tough right now, especially since the initial sting has worn off and we are adapting our way of living. But we will live, and we will proclaim the mighty things that God has done and is doing.
And in that, we will give thanks for the things that we know the Lord is going to do!
Christ is risen!
Christ is rising!
We are rising!
